Sentinel Building Systems (Albion, NE), a division of Global Industries, Inc., has achieved an impressive milestone by having a full year in operation without a single accident that required an employee to miss time away from work.
“This represents a tremendous achievement no matter how you look at it,” said Scott Stuhlmiller, the general manager of Sentinel. “It’s an accomplishment that every employee can take pride in, and further reinforces the emphasis that Sentinel and Global Industries places on safety awareness, training and making safety part of every employee’s personal culture.”
While the company places a high priority on keeping employees safe, it’s the employees themselves that have taken safety to heart, according to safety coordinator Clyde Stuhr.
“There’s no secret to it,” Stuhr explained. “It’s a day-by-day goal, and is all part of having a team mentality and making sure everyone on the team knows what to do and what’s expected of them. We constantly recognize positive safety behavior, no matter how big or small,” he added, “and continually reinforce safety at daily tool box training sessions as well as ongoing training on proper safety procedures and practices.”
