The American Welding Society (AWS; Miami, FL), a non-profit organization dedicated to advancing the science of welding, has launched an AWS Asia website, www.awsasia.org, to allow members in China to access information in their native language as well as in English. The new website has been designed to provide visitors with access to information on services offered by AWS in Asia including membership benefits, certifications, exposition information, online education, and access to AWS publications and technical standards.
Features on the new site include quick links to areas of special interest and search features to access information on the site using a specific subject or keyword. “We are committed to the future of the welding profession in China and this new website will allow us to better serve the welding community in Asia and become more accessible to our members by keeping them up-to-date on the latest news and opportunities,” said Jeff Kamentz, the corporate director of global sales for AWS.
The American Welding Society currently has over 15,000 international members. AWS Asia opened in May 2014 and is based in Hong Kong, China, with a second office in Beijing to serve the society’s growing Asian market. The AWS Asia team assists all member service needs and is dedicated to supporting industry professionals and connecting the welding community throughout the world into a collaborate force built on higher standards and advanced learning.
AWS was founded in 1919 as a multifaceted, nonprofit organization with a mission to advance the science, technology and application of welding and allied joining and cutting processes worldwide, including brazing, soldering, and thermal spraying. Headquartered in Miami and led by a volunteer organization of officers and directors, the society serves more than 71,000 members worldwide and is composed of 22 Districts with 250 Sections and student chapters.
