The Hobart Institute of Welding Technology (HIWT; Troy, OH) will break ground on a 14,000+ sq ft “Next Generation Welder Learning Facility” at its Troy campus in early 2016. The new facility will enhance the welder learning experience for skill and technical training, and will be an addition to their existing 13 acre campus.
The facility will feature state-of-the-art capabilities for welder education, welding procedures, welder qualification testing, certification services and specialized training. The institute serves the welding industry in an educational capacity as a career school approved by the Ohio State Board of Career Colleges and Schools and accredited by the Accrediting Commission of Career Schools and Colleges (ACCSC). The investment in the new facility serves the institute’s nonprofit 501(c)(3) mission and their students.
“We have a responsibility to the welding industry to provide a world class welding education. This investment grows our campus and allows us to strengthen our mission. With the high demand for welders and the incredible shortage, this investment will allow us to continue doing its part to fill the void,” said Scott A. Mazzulla, the president and chief executive officer of HIWT.
Since 1930, the institute has trained over 100,000 welders, thousands of welding inspectors and welding educators. HIWT has trained both males and females from all over the world ranging from individuals directly out of high school, veterans and employees of Fortune 500 companies.
