ESAB Welding & Cutting Products (Florence, SC) announced that it will serve as the official supplier of welding and cutting equipment for the 2015-2016 season of PowerNation’s Xtreme Off Road and Detroit Muscle automotive TV shows that are among the top-ranked automotive how-to programs seen by millions of viewers each week on Spike TV, CBS Sports Network, NBC Sports Network, PowerNationTV.com and the PowerNationTV app. A sneak preview of the company’s new ground-breaking Rebel EMP 215ic welding machine was seen on a recent Xtreme Off Road episode.
As the exclusive welding and cutting equipment supplier for these TV shows, a variety of ESAB products will be featured throughout the season in restoration and customization projects. Each show is geared to viewers serious about working on their cars, 4x4s and trucks. Xtreme Off Road host Ian Johnson shares metal working skills on how to weld and fabricate custom crawlers, buggies, diesels and 4x4s for offroading. Detroit Muscle features step-by-step restoration and modification projects for 1960s and 1970s-era muscle cars as well as Detroit’s latest muscle machines.
In a recent Xtreme Off Road episode, Johnson gave viewers a first look at the Rebel machine – a 120V/230V, CC/CV welding system that offers true multi-process arc performance, location flexibility, lightweight portability and an advanced-technology display. A unique sMIG (“smart MIG”) function has an exclusive, built-in algorithm that monitors the user’s technique and continually adapts to provide a stable arc and superior, repeatable welds. Johnson and his team used the Rebel to restore a Jeep for wounded veteran John Curtin, in partnership with 4 Wheel to Heal, an organization that helps American wounded veterans transition back into civilian life.
“We are pleased to be named the official welding and cutting supplier of these two shows,” said Ken Konopa, the vice president of marketing and product development at ESAB. “We’re excited to have Ian, Tommy and Marc give viewers a sneak preview of the Rebel EMP 215ic. It is an all-new breakthrough machine designed to “go anywhere, weld anything.” It’s easy to use, truly multi-process and dual-voltage. Plus, it’s ultra-tough and highly portable, a perfect welding machine for the off-road and automotive restoration communities.”
“Whether it’s Ian Johnson building an off road monster or Tommy Boshers and Marc Christ restoring or modifying one of Detroit’s greatest muscle cars, the Rebel EMP 215ic, along with their other products, will allow our shows to produce great builds that our fans will love,” said RTM president Matthew Hawkins. RTM, a Raycom Media Company, is the producer of PowerNation.
