Efficient and Robust High-Power Fiber Lasers

Rofin-Sinar presents its new FL 080 fiber laser, the PowerLine Pico and DC Series, diffusion-cooled DC 025 lasers.

Posted: November 6, 2015

Booth N-26036: The highly efficient FL 080 fiber laser from Rofin uses excellent beam quality of 8 kW output power for economical yet powerful welding and fast cutting. Its Rofin control unit monitors diverse functionalities, has e-service capability and realizes scanner-based applications.
Booth N-26036: The Powerline Pico air-cooled, short pulse laser from Rofin is ideal for challenging laser marking and engraving, micro material processing, and thin film ablation and structuring. Its exceptionally high, variable pulse frequency ensures fast processing and maximum pulse-to-pulse overlap that enhances removal quality, reduces surface roughness and allows greater precision for the selective removal of layers.
Booth N-26036: Ideal for working with metals, wood, plastics and fiber-reinforced plastic, glass, textiles and paper, the diffusion-cooled DC 025 CO2 Slab Laser from Rofin uses an excellent beam quality of K = 0.95 for perfect machining and greater productivity.

In Booth N-26036, the third generation of high-performance fiber lasers from Rofin-Sinar Technologies, Inc. (Plymouth, MI) are true all-rounders that display their strengths when cutting, welding, and in surface treatment applications. With its new FL 080, Rofin presents a fiber laser with an output power of 8 kW for economical yet powerful welding and fast cutting. The available integral beam switch or beam splitter allow optimum utilization of the beam source to be easily realized. All FL Series lasers are characterized by their high efficiency and excellent beam quality. They are equipped with the “Rofin control unit” (RCU) which, in addition to diverse monitoring functionalities, also offers e-service capability, as well as simple realization of scanner-based applications.

Also on display will be PowerLine Pico lasers that are dedicated to laser marking and engraving, as well as thin film ablation and structuring. With their exceptionally high, variable pulse frequency, these short-pulse lasers ensure fast processing and maximum pulse-to-pulse overlap. This performance enhances the removal quality, reduces surface roughness, and allows for even greater precision for the selective removal of layers. With the thermal penetration depth during removal, sensitive processes such as marking certain metals and semiconductor materials can be significantly reduced with shorter pulses. PowerLine Pico lasers are ideally suited for challenging marking and micro applications. These short-pulse lasers are offered in the femtosecond, picosecond and nanosecond range, covering a wide range of customer-specific fields of application. They provide outstanding processing quality at high speed, and are the optimal solution for applications involving sensitive materials and miniaturized components.

The PowerLine Pico can be easily integrated in customer specific systems because of its all-in-one design. Via TCP/IP, USB, or RSS 422 interfaces, the laser can be quickly and easily operated. The company offers the PowerLine Pico in power ranges of 10 W and 50 W and wavelengths of 1064 Nm and 532 Nm. The PowerLine Pico is also available as a beam source without galvo.

Whether for processing metal, plastic or wood surfaces, the 2.5 kW bestseller from the DC Series has already proven itself thousands of times over around the globe with its outstanding features and high utility value for customers, and is today a standard tool on many production lines. The diffusion-cooled DC 025 has an excellent beam quality of K = 0.95 that enables it to achieve perfect machining results in conjunction with greater productivity. With a wavelength of 10.6 µm, CO2 lasers are ideally suited for working not only with metals, but also wood, plastics (including fiber-reinforced plastic), glass or textiles, through to paper. The CO2 Slab lasers only comprise a few extremely durable components and do without a conventional gas circulation. The gas cylinder integrated in the laser head eliminates the need for an external gas supply. DC SLAB lasers are available with 1 kW and up to 8 kW of laser power.
