LaserCoil Technologies LLC (Napolean, OH), a provider of coil-fed laser cutting systems, has announced that it has hired Scott Sonnenberg as director of mechanical engineering and product development. He is responsible for enhancing the LaserCoil process and systems, as well as overseeing the company’s team of mechanical engineers.

Prior to joining the company, Sonnenberg was engineering manager for Wauseon Machine & Manufacturing, a designer and manufacturer of custom automation and tube forming equipment. He was also previously employed as a design engineer for Automatic Feed Company, an innovator in pressroom automation and the company from which LaserCoil Technologies originated.

“As we see interest in our blanking equipment quickly growing, Scott will help us maintain our industry leadership position in providing solutions for laser cutting from coil stock,” commented Jay Finn, the LaserCoil general manager and chief technology officer.

Sonnenberg holds a Bachelor of Science degree in mechanical engineering from the University of Cincinnati. He lives in Napoleon with his wife.

LaserCoil blanking solutions automatically shed scrap during the cutting process to deliver part-ready components for stacking at the end of the line while attaining high production speeds, depending upon size and shape of the part.  The coil processing systems can handle material thicknesses from 0.5 mm to 3.5 mm and up to 2 m wide coil at any length, and can be integrated with existing blanking automation or new lines.
