With a lightweight design, longer operating time and shorter battery charge time, the new, compact Li-Ion cordless power tools from TRUMPF Inc. (Farmington, CT) offer impressively high performance and increased comfort for the operator. The TruTool PN 130 profile nibbler, the TruTool S 160 and S 114 shears, and the TruTool C 160 cutting shears are all part of this new family of cordless handheld power tools.

An improved Li-Ion battery and the battery-optimized aluminum gear head make all of these cordless power tools more mobile than ever. In development, the gear head was tailored for the low voltage of the battery used in the cordless tools. The result is an above average operating time. All of the new cordless power tools rely on 10.8 Li-Ion battery technology for the 2 Ah standard battery and the optional 4 Ah battery. This enables fabricators to work for extended periods of time without charging the battery.

Individual electrical cell monitoring in the battery unit and charger protect the battery from overload, overheating and deep discharge while ensuring a long run time and maximum efficiency. The power tools come standard with two 2 Ah batteries that feature accelerated charge time. This battery requires only 15 minutes to reach an 80 percent charge and 30 minutes for a full charge.

The lightweight design of the new cordless tools enables users to operate the TruTool for extended periods of time without fatigue. On average, these tools are 20 percent to 30 percent lighter than competitive shears and nibblers on the market. The TruTool also features an ergonomic and sleek design. The weight of the tool is distributed between the gear head and the motor, and the soft grip of the motor housing enables operators to comfortably maintain a secure hold. In addition, small, practical features such as colored LED lights notify the user when the battery power is running low.

A removable belt clip can be attached to the side of the motor so the user can hang the TruTool from a belt or pants pocket and keep the tool always within their reach.TRUMPF is the world market and technology leader in fabricating machinery and industrial lasers for flexible sheet metal processing.
