New Director of Quality and Lean Manufacturing for COE Press Equipment
Subramaniam Manivannan takes over the new position that has been created to help the company expand into new areas.

Coe Press Equipment Corporation (Sterling Heights, MI), a leading provider of coil handling equipment and cut-to-length systems, has announced the appointment of Subramaniam Manivannan (Mani) as the director of quality and lean manufacturing, a new position developed to help the company accommodate expansion into new areas. He is responsible for overseeing quality management and other strategies aimed at operational excellence.
“Mani has impressive credentials and real-life success in lean manufacturing initiatives at several OEMs and suppliers,” said John Coe, the president of the company. “He has already run some Kaizens and the entire company is enthused about participating in programs that help us learn to work smarter, eliminate waste and gain efficiencies.”
Prior to joining COE, Manivannan was director of global continuous improvement at Franklin Electric (Bluffton, IN) and director of quality and continuous improvement at the aluminum wheels division of Accuride (Erie, PA). He also served as quality lead at several assignments with Ford Motor Company as well as supply chain manager at Rolls Royce (Chantilly, VA).
Manivannan attended the University of Trondheim, Norway where he earned a BS in mechanical engineering as well as a postgraduate diploma in materials technology. He has a master’s degree in engineering, manufacturing systems from Lawrence Technological University, Southfield, MI, and a postgraduate diploma in quality assurance from Conestoga College Cambridge, Ontario. He also holds numerous certifications in quality- and lean manufacturing-related subjects including Six Sigma Black Belt.
Manivannan is a member of the American Society of Quality, the Society of Manufacturing Engineers, and the Fabricators & Manufacturers Association. He lives in Sterling Heights, MI.
