Position Fans with Computational Fluid Dynamics Tool

AirViz from MacroAir uses specs from a potential installation space to produce a 3D motion video that predicts the airflow, temperatures and cooling/heating effects from a MacroAir HVLS fan.

The AirViz Modeling tool provides a virtual performance simulation to test multiple MacroAir fans throughout a facility to find the best air movement solution for the space.
The system adapts the latest fluid dynamic technology to replicate the performance of each fan by comparing the simulations with live wind speed testing. By tracking air movement, the system provides a solution for comfort and air movement that also saves money.

Giving customers an opportunity to “try before they buy,” MacroAir (San Bernardino, CA), the industry originator of high volume, low speed (HVLS) fans, debuts AirViz, the company’s new computational fluid dynamics modeling tool that gives customers an opportunity to visualize the potential performance and cost-saving prospects of the company’s products within a dedicated space.

AirViz is a 3D motion tool based on advanced fluid dynamics modeling and is tailored to the specifics of MacroAir fans. Using specs from a potential installation space, the tool can produce a 3D motion video that predicts the airflow, temperatures and cooling/heating effects from a MacroAir HVLS fan, represented by colored visual elements.

“Through the virtual performance simulation produced by AirViz, we are able to test multiple MacroAir fans throughout a facility to find the best air movement solution for the space, and then demonstrate this to the customer,” says the MacroAir engineering manager Michael Danielsson. “We’ve adapted the latest fluid dynamic technology to replicate the performance of each of our fans by comparing the simulations with live wind speed testing. By tracking air movement we are able to provide a solution for our clients that not only will solve their need for comfort and air movement, but also save money.”

Overview and demonstration of the MacroAir AirViz 3D Motion Tool.

MacroAir HVLS fans are a proven solution for changing perceptible room temperature by 5 deg to 15 deg, and lower heating and cooling costs by as much as 20 percent when used in conjunction with traditional HVAC equipment.

AirViz will allow companies to be even more efficient with the ability to spec and test fan locations for optimum airflow, resulting in energy savings.

“We engineer air, having originated HVLS technology and continuing to perfect it to provide our end users with the most advanced air movement solutions that also deliver results,” said Eddie Boyd, the president of MacroAir. “AirViz is the next generation product specification tool that can be used to support purchase decisions and increase consumer confidence in our industry.”

MacroAir manufactures five lines of HVLS fans in diameters from 6 ft to 24 ft that feature six airfoil blades utilizing NASA-engineered wing design and the company’s patented 6ixBlade™ technology. The company’s products are covered by a 12-year limited warranty on all parts with the exception of the blades, hub and frame, which carry a lifetime warranty.

Since developing the first HVLS prototype in 1998, MacroAir continues to serve as an HVLS industry leader through its commitment to innovation and design of the most durable and cost-effective commercial ceiling fans on the market.

As the “engineers of air,™” MacroAir produces energy-efficient, long-lasting HVLS fans that can be found in warehouses, manufacturing plants, airplane hangars, agricultural arenas and retail establishments across the U.S. and around the world, and are used by companies such as Coca-Cola, CSX Transportation and NAPA Auto Parts.

The company is the exclusive HVLS fan supplier for independent auto dealerships of BMW, Chrysler, Ford, General Motors, Lexus, Mercedes-Benz, Nissan and Toyota under their Dealer Equipment Programs.
