Gibbs and Associates (Moorpark, CA), developer of GibbsCAM® software for programming CNC machine tools and a Cimatron (Givat Shmuel, Israel) company announced that the 2014 GibbsCAM International Reseller Conference was the largest conference to date.
Held in Las Vegas, NV, Gibbs established itself as a worldwide presence with representatives of nearly 20 different countries in attendance. The event was attended by both the Gibbs’ worldwide team of Resellers and Cimatron subsidiaries from China, Germany, India, Israel, Italy and Korea. This was Gibbs 24th annual Reseller conference.
Attendees were given a sneak preview of GibbsCAM 2015, including a look at GibbsCAM UKM (Universal Kinematic Machine), a next generation, open-machine architecture release of GibbsCAM, which allows for programming, post processing and machine simulation of both the latest generation as well as future generations of multi-axis CNC machines.
GibbsCAM UKM represents a dramatic improvement in the flexibility of programming a wide range of machines, whether Multi-Task Machines, Swiss-style, or 5-Axis mills with rotary and right angle heads. Improvements extend to include tooling, fixturing, simulation, and post processing, as well as optimized toolpath for maximum machine throughput.
The keynote speaker for the conference was Rodney Babcock of Next Intent, a long-time GibbsCAM customer. Next Intent makes unique parts for the space exploration industry, including parts found on the Mars Rover, Mars Science Laboratory, Curiosity Rover, and the Discovery Channel Telescope.
Babcock’s presentation was enjoyed by the entire group and prompted Bill Gibbs to comment, “Rodney reminds the science geeks in all of us why we do this exciting and important work. I get great pleasure from the fact that parts programmed in GibbsCAM are exploring Mars right now.”
Other speakers included partners for SpaceClaim, a multi-purpose, easy to use 2D/3D solid modeling software offering a fast modeling environment for tooling and fixture design and Sandvik’s TDM Systems 4th Generation, a customer oriented tool data management software solution. Both products are natural extensions of GibbsCAM, providing incremental capabilities for GibbsCAM customers.
Presentations from Gibbs Technical staff and subsidiaries included information on tips, tricks, plug-ins, and macros which push the limits of GibbsCAM for maximum speed and productivity.
Robb Weinstein, the vice president of sales and strategic planning commented, “Our Reseller Conference is a time for us to get worldwide input that affects our future product development in a very real and positive way. We also look forward to it as a time to connect as a global family and plan for our mutual success.”
