Magnet Applications Partners with Magnequench

Magnet Applications, a subsidiary of Bunting^® Magnetics Co. (Newton, KS), has partnered with Magnequench, the magnetic business unit of Molycorp Inc. and currently the only legal manufacturer and source of Neo Powders^™ used in bonded neodymium magnets in North America.

Announcing the partnership, Magnet Applications vice president of sales Mike Miller commented, “For nearly 25 years, our customers have relied on us for magnets and assemblies incorporating compression bonded and injection molded magnets made with Molycorp Magnequench Neo Powders^™.  Our reputation for quality and technical expertise has made us the largest Molycorp Magnequench customer for Neo Powders in North America. In 2014, the expiration of certain Magnequench patents will permit the importation of potentially substandard neodymium powder and magnets into the United States. Magnet Applications customers, however, will continue to receive only the highest quality magnets, owing to acooperative arrangement with Magnequench providing for the continued use of only Molycorp Magnequench Neo Powders in our magnets.”
