Yaskawa Motoman (Dayton, OH) announced that it has established the IMPACT Corporate Giving Program. IMPACT was founded to encourage and support giving, volunteering and community involvement through company-sponsored programs and initiatives. Yaskawa Motoman selected Goodwill Easter Seals Miami Valley as its first partner.

“We want to promote community awareness and help improve the communities we serve. For our first year, we chose to partner with Goodwill Easter Seals based upon their ability to impact people who need assistance with education, employment, disabilities and achieving independence,” stated Bart Suver, chief business analyst/planner of Yaskawa Motoman.

Over the last year, the firm held a donation drive and a 5k event. Through IMPACT, proceeds from both events were donated directly to Goodwill Easter Seals, which will:

• Provide wages for someone in a transition job to build skills before securing permanent employment
• Provide job coaching to help someone understand work requirements, maintain employment or learn new skills for advancement
• Allow a person with age-related disabilities to attend an Adult Day Service
• Provide car seats to families who would not be able to purchase one
• Distribute special radios to people who have vision loss so that they can listen to local newspaper broadcasts and stay connected to their communities

Also through IMPACT, a group of individuals from within the company have volunteered for the Goodwill Easter Seals’ Radio Reading Program, scheduled to commence in January 2014. Yaskawa Motoman created a recording room for this program in its Dayton, Ohio headquarters.

“We truly appreciate our partnership with Yaskawa Motoman. The IMPACT Corporate Giving Program directly affects the lives of the people GESMV serves, and it helps us grow our mission of empowering people with disabilities and other needs to achieve independence,” shared Kathy Rearick, director of development of Goodwill Easter Seals.

“We are especially excited about Yaskawa Motoman’s interest in building a recording studio on their site to enhance our Radio Reading Service. This will allow us to increase the programming options for our listeners.”

Yaskawa Motoman plans to continue to support Goodwill Easter Seals and partner with other local community organizations through regular IMPACT fundraising events and sustained volunteering services.
