Hexagon Metrology (North Kingstown, RI) announced that it will cohost a HxGN LIVE on Location Workshop with the National Institute for Aviation Research (NIAR). The workshop titled Metrology Solutions for Aerospace Applications will focus on the use of metrology to address typical challenges in the aerospace industry.
The event will be held on February 19, 9am to 4pm, at the National Center for Aviation Training (NCAT) in Wichita, KS. The keynote speaker will be Jim Arness of Lockheed Martin, winner of the company’s NOVA award. Topics to be covered include seam validation, fastener flushness, reverse engineering, in-process management, eliminating line of sight inspection issues, setting details with ease, and the use of model based definition for rapidly completing FAIs.
NIAR partnered with Hexagon Metrology in an effort to become the most capable university-based aviation research center in the United States. Their goal is to train the workforce of tomorrow on cutting edge technology from Hexagon Metrology to reverse engineer outdated tools, validate inspection processes and methods, and develop techniques which benefit low volume production environments.
Brian Brown, associate director of NIAR’s CAD/CAM Lab says, “We are extremely pleased with our relationship with Hexagon Metrology and the benefits derived from this strategic partnership. This workshop will not only feature the capabilities of Hexagon Metrology’s precision measurement solutions for a broad array of applications, but highlight NIAR’s expertise as the premier educational resource for the aerospace industry.”
