Innovative Welding Clamps

Wilton® / Walter Meier Manufacturing Inc. (LaVergne, TN) launches an entirely new line of F-Clamps for welding. This expansive line of welding F-Clamps includes the superior series of Spark Duty™ Copper Plated F-Clamps.

Instead of using conventional black-oxide finish spindles, the new line incorporates copper spindles and pads, which are unrivaled in deflecting welding splatter. What results is smooth clamp operation, increased durability and performance, plus longer tool life. “Copper plating adds extra protection to the spindle and pad which are the clamp’s most common wear parts,” said Tim Onello, the  director of product management for Wilton.

Wilton gives welders the option of using smooth surface, copper plated Perma-Pads™ or V-groove pads to hold work materials in place. The V-groove pad is ideal for securing pipe and other circular and irregular-shaped objects up to 14 in diameter. Perma-Pads™ pads are easy to swap out using a wrench. Both pads are standard equipment and included with every Spark Duty F-Clamp.

Construction of the Spark Duty F-Clamps features a dropped-forged arm that provides minimal flex under heavy load.  Plus, the clamps feature an ergonomic anti-fatigue Wilton-Grip™ that’s designed for comfort, especially during extended use periods. Spark Duty Welding F-Clamps are divided into three series: Heavy-duty (4800 lb clamping force), Medium-duty (2400 lb clamping force) and Light-duty (2000 lb clamping force).

The Spark Duty welding series also includes specialty clamps, such as the J-series clamps. The J-series copper clamps have a J-shaped rail that’s designed to slip over I-beams and irregular-shaped objects. They also feature the copper plated v-groove and smooth surface Perma-Pads. The three clamps in this series have clamping forces of 1200 lb, 2400 lb and 4800 lb.

The Deep Reach welding series of F-Clamps features two models, with 8 in throats and 12 in and 24 in opening capacities. These clamps deliver a clamping force of 1770 lb.  They also feature the copper plated v-groove and smooth surface Perma-Pads™.
