Methods Machine Tools, Inc. (Charlotte, NC), will demonstrate seven machine tools,  including the FANUC D21MiA5 RoboDrill vertical machining center with a new state-of-the-art FANUC 31iB5 control that features extremely fast FSSB high-speed processing and offers streamlined electronics to reduce the number of components and provide a very ergonomic display.

To significantly reduce the chance for downtime, the control provides efficient troubleshooting and maintenance capabilities, allowing users to analyze systems on the RoboDrill and receive notifications if any of the drives or electronics require adjustment.

The versatile and highly reliable FANUC D series RoboDrill VMCs are available in four variations, including the D21SiA (short bed), D21MiA (medium bed), D21LiA (long bed) and D21LiA (long bed) with a Dual Pallet Changer.

These RoboDrills offer a 14-tool or 21-tool tool changer, torque to 73 ft-lb, rigid tapping to 5,000 rpm (8,000 rpm optional), accelerations in X, Y, and Z axes to 1.5 G, rapid traverses to 2,125 ipm, feed rates to 1,181 ipm (2,362 ipm optional), thread milling, 1,000 registerable programs and 54 work offsets. Spindle rpm ranges from 10,000 to 24,000 with the option to utilize tool changeable air spindles of up to 90,000 rpm.
