InspectionXpert and Verisurf have combined their strengths and integrated by streamlining the first article and production inspection process from 2D drawings to automated 3D measurement and reporting.
InspectionXpert Corporation and Verisurf Software, Inc. (Anaheim, CA) presented their new integration at AeroDef 2013 in Long Beach, CA earlier this year. The integrated solution builds on the strengths of both products by streamlining the first article and production inspection process from 2D drawings to automated 3D measurement and reporting.
The integration combines the efficiency of InspectionXpert’s powerful data extraction, ballooning, and reporting tool for quickly capturing dimensional information from 2D drawings, and the strength and flexibility of Verisurf’s 3D inspection and measurement solution and real-time interface with any coordinate measuring machine or 3D scanner.
“The beauty of this integration is how it helps quality inspectors who are faced with inspection dimensions and notes that are only available in a 2D drawing, such as PDF or TIFF files,” explains Jeff Cope, president and chief technical officer of InspectionXpert. “Now the inspector no longer needs to spend hours typing inspection information into Verisurf from a 2D drawing in order to program their measurement plan or hand copy results from inspection reports into an InspectionXpert AS9102 report. It’s a huge time saver for quality departments.”
InspectionXpert quickly balloons the 2D drawing, creating the unique IDs for Verisurf’s measurement plan, and the powerful OCR extracts inspection information from the drawing. Inspection information is then published to Verisurf where the inspector can easily match the drawing dimension to the 3D model, create the measurement plan and begin the 3D inspection.
When the 3D inspection is complete, the results can be exported from Verisurf in a variety of formats or imported back into InspectionXpert to create standard or custom inspection report formats for AS9102 and PPAP. The inspection plan is saved automating all subsequent production inspections in a highly repeatable process and can be published to inspection results databases such as Net-Inspect.
“This partnership and integration automates the 2D and 3D inspection process reduce data entry errors and save manufacturers significant time and money producing first article inspection reports.” states Ernie Husted, president and chief executive officer of Verisurf. “The benefits really multiply in production because the inspection plans are already created and are highly repeatable.”
