Over the next several years, the MISUMI Vietnam blank factories will expand and adopt the Dayton Progress blank-making process, after which most manufacture of Dayton blanks will transfer from Ohio to the MISUMI plant in Vietnam.

In November of 2012, Dayton Progress (Dayton, OH) was acquired by MISUMI Group Inc. of Japan for the strategic reasons of geographic fit and numerous internal synergies between the companies. Recently, Dayton Progess announced one such synergy.

The company has long been known for the quality of its high performance semi-finished punch blanks, which allow rapid manufacture and shipment of more than 300,000 different part numbers each year and a consistent order-to-order product performance. All Dayton Progess blanks are currently made in Dayton for all Dayton Progess plants worldwide.

MISUMI has a very large modern factory complex in Vietnam which supplies all MISUMI punch making factories worldwide with very high quality and high performance blanks. Over the next several years, the MISUMI Vietnam blank factories will expand and adopt the Dayton Progress blank-making process, after which most manufacture of Dayton blanks will transfer from Ohio to our MISUMI plant in Vietnam.

All the benefits of economy of scale will be realized. Dayton Progess customers will continue to enjoy all the performance benefits of the Dayton blank, made with the same process and the same steel as before. Quality, metallurgical integrity and consistency and delivery all will be unaffected by this transfer.

There will be no impact to the 500+ jobs at the Dayton Progess location in Ohio as a result of this transfer, which will free up space and capacity for continuing growth.
