With more arc starts per set, this advanced technology extends consumables life and reduces cutting cost by up to 16 percent.

To extend consumables life and enable precision cuts on mild steel up to two inches thick, Victor® Thermal Dynamics® offers HeavyCut Technology for its 300 amp and 400 amp integrated automated plasma cutting systems.

HeavyCut Technology consumables for 300 amp and 400 amp systems feature multiple hafnium inserts instead of a single insert. The consumables also feature a two-piece shield cup that cools the cup all the way to the orifice. Better cooling extends cup life and cut accuracy across the life of the tip, especially when piercing at higher amperages. These combined features can dramatically reduce the cut cost per foot.

“As automated plasma cutting systems become more prominent for cutting metal in a range up to two inches, we developed this technology so that our integrated systems could continue to offer end-users the lowest cost per cut foot,” says Dirk Ott, the vice president of global plasma automation brand for Victor Technologies (St. Louis, MO).

In addition to the consumables, HeavyCut Technology works in concert with the dynamic, real-time process control iCNC XT controller and the cutting capabilities of its UltraCut® high precision plasma power sources.

These systems provide sharper corners, rounder holes, edges with little or no bevel (ISO Class 3 or better) and extended consumables life. Ott notes that the intelligence built inside of the system enables end-users to obtain these benefits without any automated plasma cutting or programming experience.

Victor Technologies provides superior solutions for cutting, welding and gas control equipment under brand names that include Victor®, Victor®Thermal Dynamics®, Victor®Arcair®, Victor®TurboTorch®, Tweco®, Thermal Arc®, Stoody®, Firepower® and Cigweld®. www.victortechnologies.com
