Imagine forming a mar-free radius of any size, any ga of metal up to 1/4 in, using the same bottom die.

The smart pad radius bending bottom die is the most versatile bottom die that is available on the market for radius bending. With the ability to make any radius from 1” and above, there is nothing that compares to the Smart Pad system.

The Smart Pad System from Polyurethane Products (Addison, IL) is designed to bend any radius from 1 in up to 4 in to 90 deg in one hit. If a larger radius or more degrees of bend are necessary, bump forming can be used. The smart pad allows for an 8 in wide punch to be used, allowing an operator to minimize the number of bumps necessary to create a large radius. Also, the smart pad system creates a smooth, repeatable bend rather than a notched piece without consistency.

The versatility of the SMP1240 is not only for the range of radii, but also materials. Any material up to ¼ in thick can be bent using the SMP1240 without needing to purchase a new bottom die. With the correct punches the same bottom die can be used for a multitude of radii as well as materials and thicknesses with consistency.

The SMP1240 Smart Pad System™ is designed to bend any radius from 1 in (25 mm) to 4 in (100 mm), 90 deg in one hit or bump form any radiused shape. www.polyprod.com

Limitations

  • Minimum radius = 1 in (25 mm), Minimum punch width = 2 in (50 mm)
  • Maximum punch width = 8 in (200 mm)
  • Maximum depth of punch penetration = 3 in (75 mm)
  • Maximum Gauge = 10 ga (3 mm) mild steel, 14 ga (2 mm) stainless steel (with caution, we have bent 1/4 in [6 mm] thick stainless to 8 in radii)

Radii & Gauge

  • Minimum radius = 1 in (25 mm), 10 ga (3 mm) mild steel
  • Maximum radius = 4 in (100 mm), 10 ga (3 mm) mild steel-90 deg bend in one hit.

Bump Form

  • Any radius without exceeding 3 in (75 mm) depth of penetration. *Minimum distance to start of radius bend = 1 in (25 mm).
  • Wear pad is made one grade harder than the main pad & is replaceable.

The SMP620N Smart Pad System™ is designed to bend any radius from 1/2 in (12 mm) to 2 in (50 mm), 90 deg in one hit or bump form any radiused shape.

Limitations

  • Maximum punch width = 3 in (75 mm)
  • Maximum depth of punch penetration = 1-1/4 in (32 mm)
  • Minimum radius = 1/2 in (12 mm)
  • Minimum punch width = 1-1/2 in (38 mm)

Bending Capacity

  • Minimum radius = 1 in (25 mm), 10 ga (3 mm) mild steel
  • Minium distance to start of radius bend = 1 in (25 mm).
  • Wear pad is made one grade harder than the main pad & is replaceable.
