Representatives from the State of Ohio and City of Mason recently gathered to honor The Harris Products Group (Mason, OH) for its recognition by IndustryWeek as one of the country’s Best Plants and for its contribution to the community.

Nearly 200 employees of the company’s Mason facility and global headquarters gathered to hear the remarks and accept the honor. The city and state honored the company following recognition as one of the best manufacturing plants in North America. The facility was named one of six winners in the prestigious Best Plants competition.

“The Harris Products Group is proud to be an integral part of the business community in Southwest Ohio,” said David J. Nangle, president of The Harris Products Group. “From this Mason location, we deliver more than half of our product volume to customers in more than 90 countries around the world.”

The six winners were named at a competition earlier this year. Participants completed an application in 2012 that involved a lengthy description and data supporting the plant’s accomplishments, improvements and operations in multiple categories. These include Management Practices, Quality Achievements, Employment Practices, Safety, Customer Focus, Supply Chain and Logistics, Technology, Manufacturing & Flexibility, Maintenance, Inventory Management, Environmental Stewardship and Competiveness & Market Results.

Victor Kidd, the vice mayor of the City of Mason, and Sherri Carbo, the Southwest Regional Liaison for Ohio Gov. John Kasich, provided comments and congratulations to plant leaders and employees. Carbo read a proclamation from the State of Ohio on Friday, declaring the day to be Harris Products Group Day.

“The Harris Products Group has been a shining example of Ohio’s comeback as they have reimagined their business plan in order to meet the demands of their industry,” Carbo said. “It is our honor to acknowledge your successes, and we hope that you will be able to continue to capitalize on your hard work and determination.”

Mason Vice Mayor Victor Kidd also read a proclamation from the city: “After delivering compelling proof of strong manufacturing performance and a comprehensive focus on continuous improvement, the Harris Products Group facility in Mason has officially won the 2012 prestigious Best Plants competition, recognizing them as a pacesetter among North American manufacturers.”
