John Brown will establish a robust national automation and controls practice targeting several instrumentation-dependent industries.

John M. Brown has joined Guarantee Electrical Co. (GECO; St. Louis, MO) as the vice president of industrial and instrumentation to collaborate with company executives to establish a robust national automation and controls practice targeting several instrumentation-dependent industries.

His work will focus on steel manufacturing and other markets. “Strengthening our industrial instrumentation capabilities with the professional engineering services in our portfolio takes us up a rung on the ladder of professional capability,” said Rick Oertli, the GECO chairman and chief executive officer. “Few of our peers offer more than rudimentary industrial instrumentation services. We believe clients will value our much richer menu of full turn-key service in this area.”

Brown has more than four decades of engineering and instrumentation experience. He founded Brown Automation, Inc. (Irvine, CA), a regional full-service control systems integrator, in 1987. He sold the company to Sachs Electric Co. in 1995 and served there as a vice president active in its automation, industrial and alternative energy businesses.

Brown is a senior member of the Instrumentation, Systems and Automation Society of America and a member of the American Water and Wastewater Association.

Guarantee Electrical consistently ranks among the nation’s largest electrical contractors. The company provides full-scope electrical contracting, including pre-construction, construction, design-build, design-assist, value engineering, procurement, service and preventive maintenance.

Guarantee is a founding member of the Federated Electrical Contractors, an affiliation of 33 major electrical contractors with offices in cities across North America, Europe and Asia. In addition to a 120,000 sq ft urban campus in St. Louis that features a state-of-the-art fabrication center and multiple warehouses, Guarantee operates offices in Illinois, Colorado and California.

The company reported revenues of $136 million for its fiscal year ending September 30, 2012. www.geco.com
