CCAT is a unique economic development organization that combines expertise in cutting-edge manufacturing technology with specialized centers of excellence in STEM, education, workforce strategy and alternative energy solutions to help organizations increase efficiencies, improve workforce development and boost competitiveness. CCAT promotes partnerships between industry, academia and government to create a new collaborative framework for tackling 21st century economic challenges.
Sodick will help companies adopt EDM in their shops and facilitate the use of new mainstream manufacturing techniques.
“CCAT’s goal is to help manufacturers be more competitive and this collaboration exemplifies that effort,” stated Elliot Ginsberg, the CCAT president and chief executive officer. “With the addition of the Sodick Wire and Sinker EDM machines to the AMC, companies in the regional aerospace supply chain, which includes nearly 1,000 manufacturers in Connecticut alone, will have the unique opportunity to use this advanced technology in the production of aerospace components and other applications, which cannot be produced by standard machining methods.”
Sodick, recognized as a leading supplier of wire, sinker and small hole EDMs and high speed mills, has paved the way for linear motor drives in EDM. Their machines that are now housed at AMC – the AQ400L Wire EDM and the AD30L Sinker EDM – feature linear motor drive technology that comes backed by a 10-year positioning guarantee.
“We are excited to work with CCAT,” stated Alex Ogozarek, the Sodick regional sales manager. “CCAT can now offer EDM technology as part of their capabilities and we will be able to showcase their machines at the Advanced Manufacturing Center facility.”
Sodick, established in 1976, has sold over 55,000 EDMs worldwide and has had over 30,000 linear motor EDM deliveries. Their machines are used for the production of dies and molds and other various applications that cannot be produced by standard machining methods.
Sodick has four ISO certified manufacturing facilities with over 3,100 employees worldwide and technical centers located in Chicago, New Jersey and California. The company offers the industry’s first 10-year positioning guarantee on all of its linear motor driven EDMs. www.sodick.com
