GibbsCAM Extends Educational Program into Student Homes
To address the shortage of NC programmers in industry, the software developer introduces a personal Student Edition to support classrooms worldwide that train students for NC programming or machining in high schools, technical schools, colleges and universities.
Posted: January 3, 2013
The Student Edition enables students to learn and practice NC programming, and gain familiarity with common configurations of CNC machine tools, on their home-based PCs. It includes solid modeling, 3D milling and turning, and polar and cylindrical (rotary), plus machine simulation and the ability to read ACIS and SAT files, such as SolidWorks and AutoDesk Inventor.
Integral to the software is its toolpath verification capability, Cut Part Rendering, which provides additional value to students, as it is a highly precise verification and diagnostic tool. These Educational Editions (both Classroom and Student) enable educators and students to prepare themselves to address the shortage of NC programmers in industry.
