The new combination line from Red Bud Industries gives the Charlotte facility the ability to produce blanks with width and length tolerances of +.005 in.
Ryerson Inc. (Chicago, IL), recently ordered a .250 in by 72 in wide multi-cut blanking line for their Charlotte, NC facility from Red Bud Industries (Red Bud, IL). Featured in the line will be a Precision Grip Feed System and CNC Programmable Slitter. This combination of machines will give Ryerson the capability of producing blanks with width and length tolerances of + 005 in (127 mm).
The system also includes an Automatic Strip Divider Positioning System. While the operator is setting up the slitting head, the Strip Divider Positioning System will automatically set up the dividers in the Strip Stacker. In addition, the new line will feature a fully automatic cassette style Corrective Leveler. “This state of the art equipment will increase the capacity of our Charlotte Processing Center while lowering our overall cost. It will also enhance our ability to service all of our customers in the southeast” said Brad Ford, the vice-president and general manager of Ryerson’s Carolinas Virginia Market.
The new line will consist of a coil stage and load system, uncoiler, heavy gage peeler breaker, crop shear, dual cassette roller leveler with auto flat system, pop-up flatness table, PVC/paper applicator, thread system, dual motor grip feed, CNC programmable slitter, scrap winders, shear, combination drop/strip stacker, automatic part diverter, part sorter, automatically lowering stack table, and end discharge rollouts. Ryerson expects the new line to be in place and operational by the third quarter of 2012. www.redbudindustries.com
