Up-to-date information can save manufacturing time and cost on manufacturing processes, product characteristics and uses of bar, rod and wire steels.
Steel Market Development Institute (SMDI; Detriot, MI) released an updated version of the Bar Steel Products Manual through its Bar Applications Group (BAG), offering cost and time savings to steel manufacturers and customers. The manual provides concise information pertaining to the manufacturing processes, product characteristics and uses of bar, rod and wire steels.
“The updated manual helps guide materials engineers in the application of high-quality bar steel products,” said David Anderson, the director of the SMDI Long Products Market. “By providing the most up-to-date information that can save manufacturing time and cost, steel will remain the material of choice for future applications.” According to Anderson, the manual was reviewed by technical experts in the long products industry and includes an expanded section on the manufacturing processes of hot rolled steel bar products, general technical product information on steel bars and bar product applications, a new section on the selection of bar products for an application, and updated properties of steel bars and bar products. www.autosteel.org
