With Factory for Hire, this manufacturer of custom metal fabrications and industrial parts washers will use its facility and skilled employees to help customers design, modify, fabricate and ship their own parts and new product ideas.

Midbrook, Inc. (Jackson, MI), a manufacturer of custom metal fabrications and industrial parts washers, has developed a unique Factory for Hire concept that will use its facility and skilled employees to help customers design, modify, fabricate and ship their parts and new product ideas.

The company developed the Factory for Hire concept to assist individuals who have ideas for products, but lack the design and manufacturing capability to actually produce them. In the current economic state, many of these ideas are dropped due to capital expenditure. Fully designing a product, purchasing the space and equipment to manufacture it and hiring employees to make it all work is often cost prohibitive. As a result, the potential project is abandoned.

As a manufacturer of custom metal fabrications for nearly 40 years, Midbrook has produced parts for numerous suppliers who lacked the equipment to manufacture them in-house. Their experience and manufacturing capability has made them an attractive option for suppliers in this situation. The new Factory for Hire concept is simply an extension of this service. Customers can bring their ideas to Midbrook, who will work with them on developing their design and recommend improvements, such as making the product more cost effective to produce. The shop can then supply the engineering needed to make the design complete and ready for manufacture.

When the engineering is complete, Midbrook can create prototypes of the product as a final check of the design. When the product is ready to be produced, the metal fabricator will use its manufacturing space, equipment and skilled employees to begin manufacturing the product. There is no need for the customer to find available space, purchase equipment or hire and train new employees to do the work . . . the Factory for Hire is designed to supply all of the necessary manpower. Once the production is complete, Midbrook can inspect the parts to assure quality and package them for shipping. If necessary, the plant can even ship the parts directly to a final customer.

The Factory for Hire concept is ideally suited for companies who are looking to diversify or start a new product line but are concerned about expanding their facility and investing the capital required to get it to the market in this uncertain economic situation. They can utilize Midbrook’s experience with custom fabrications to help refine their design and make their product more cost effective to manufacture, and then let Midbrook use their resources to produce it.

The end result is that the Factory for Hire provides companies with an opportunity to mitigate the risk of expansion, while still enjoying the benefits of producing a successful new product. Midbrook is the minority owned, world leading provider of process specific, high volume aqueous part cleaning systems, sealed solvent cleaning systems, water bottling equipment, and medical decontamination equipment.
