Ideal for high-volume robotic welding in heavy equipment manufacturing, this wire uses a special formulation for uncompromised arc starting, wire feeding consistency, excellent seam tracking and touch sensing.

Hobart Brothers (Troy, OH) expanded its Tri-Mark® Matrix metal-cored wire offering to include a new diameter size. In addition to .045 in and .052 in diameters, Matrix wire will now be available in a 1/16-inch diameter for welding on applications composed of thicker materials.

The Matrix wire is specifically designed to maximize performance and increase productivity on high-volume robotic welding applications, particularly those in the heavy equipment manufacturing industry. Matrix uses a special formulation that provides uncompromised arc starting and wire feeding consistency, in addition to excellent seam tracking and touch sensing. It has also been proven to extend consumable and liner life, and to eliminate buildup at the drive rolls.

The wire’s special formulation creates a consistent weld bead shape with excellent crack resistance, minimal silicon islands and reduced spatter. As a result of these features, Matrix wire helps companies reduce downtime for maintenance and post-weld activities like grinding or rework, leading to an increase in productivity, efficiency and quality.

The Matrix wire comes on 33 lb precision layer wound plastic spools, each of which ships in a heat-sealed, Vapor Corrosion Inhibitor (VCI)-impregnated bag to protect against contaminants. Matrix wire is also available in the exclusive 750 lb X-Pak drum that uses a rubber gasket and has a VCI-impregnated interior to provide additional protection.
