An ID clamping welding end prep tool that produces high torque at low rpm for cutting high-chrome-content boiler tubes, stainless steel and tubes with overlays is available from ESCO Tool (Holliston, MA).
Suitable for cutting high-chrome-content boiler tubes, stainless steel, and tubes with overlays, the tool requires only nine sets of clamps for the full 0.750-in ID to 3-in OD range of the tool and has a self-centering mandrel with a patented push-pull release design.
Eliminating the need for cutting fluids, the ESCO Mongoose MILLHOG® Welding End Prep Tool uses TiN coated cutter blades machined from T-15 tool steel, which mount securely into the rigid EscoLock™ blade lock system to provide chatter-free operation. The blades feature a radical chip breaker, which directs the chip away from the tube and minimizes heat generation.
