Weldwide Solutions Limited (Carmarthenshire, United Kingdom) is offering water-soluble paper products for customers who need to purge pipework with a dam that can be dissolved with water after welding.
Water-soluble paper can be used for any purging application, but it is particularly valuable as a viable alternative to position dams close to the pipe ends for applications where a customer has a tie-in weld that won’t allow the fabricator to pass a purge hose through the pipe to where the dams are positioned. Purge gas can then be introduced through the root gap so a weld can remain purged.
Water-soluble dams will save money on purge gas costs since the dams can be placed at the pipe ends a short distance away from where welding takes place.
The dams can be dissolved in water after welding to remove all traces of the dam and the water-soluble adhesive paper tape used to secure the dams inside the pipes.
Water-soluble paper is offered in two ways:
– Rolls of 165 ft length and 9 in, 15.5 in or 31.5 in widths
– Packs of sheets cut into convenient sizes
Weldwide Solutions Limited also offers pre-fabricated paper cones which customers can order for a specific pipe ID.
