The CoroCut program uses larger insert seat sizes for wider grooves and higher performance in the most demanding steel, stainless steel and cast iron parting and grooving operations.
Sandvik Coromant‘s (Fair Lawn, NJ) M-size and R-size inserts and holders increase the ranges of the CoroCut parting and grooving program to cover from 0.590 in for heavy-duty grooving, down to 0.020 in parting widths. The R-size is the largest of all CoroCut inserts and is optimized to provide reliable performance in tough, demanding grooving operations. Applicable to grades of steel, stainless steel and cast iron, the R-size insert achieves feed rates of up to 0.020 in/rev.
The CoroCut M-size insert provides high metal removal rates with good chip control in heavy grooving and rough-forming applications. The M-size is capable of producing grooves from 0.354 in to 0.433 in wide and allows perfect chip forming at feed rates of up to 0.016 in/rev. The CoroCut system uses a patented rail and V-shape insert design to boost precision in parting and grooving. With a highly secure clamping system, the CoroCut is ideal for demanding applications and ensures high rigidity and stability.
To complement the insert sizes, Sandvik Coromant offers the GC1145 grade. With improved wear resistance and toughness properties, the new grade maintains an uncompromised cutting edge for long times in cut. As a result, tool life or cutting speed can be gained in difficult parting-off operations in stainless steels and for demanding parting and grooving in stainless steel, steel and heat-resistant super alloys.
