Hirschfeld Industries (San Angelo, TX), one of the largest fully diversified providers of complex steel products to the public and private U.S. infrastructure markets, sponsored the 2010 Steel Day events for the American Institute of Steel Construction on September 24 at its San Angelo, TX, and Greensboro, NC, locations.

The San Angelo event location at Hirschfeld Industry's headquarters welcomed a variety of guests, including several representatives from Texas Tech University, such as Ernie Kiesling, Ph.D., P.E., and Richard Walker, P. E., of the Texas Tech University Wind Science and Engineering Research Center, along with 35 engineering students. Guests viewed presentations by vendors including Arcelor-Mittal, Sherwin-Williams and the National Steel Bridge Association.

Attendees were also given a tour of Hirschfeld's on-site modern bridge fabrication facilities and the state-of-the-art wind tower fabrication facility at Martifer-Hirschfeld Energy Systems.

In Greensboro, more than 40 students and professors from Virginia Tech University and Greensboro Community College, along with several officials from the North Carolina Department of Transportation, were exposed to real-life steel industry techniques, production and fabrication methods at Hirschfeld Industries' Bridge Division Headquarters.

One of the largest educational and networking events in the steel industry, the AISC 2010 Steel Day reached attendance of over 8,000 participants across 195 national events. Next year's Steel Day is set for September 23, 2011.
