M1200 face-milling cutters and inserts from WIDIA provide superior advanced milling results in steels, stainless steels, high-strength steels, cast irons and non-ferrous materials.

Additions to the M1200 series of face-milling cutters and inserts from WIDIA (Latrobe, PA), part of the company’s Victory platform of advanced milling, turning and holemaking tools, are providing superior results for manufacturers working in steels, stainless steels, high-strength steels, cast irons, and now non-ferrous materials. In addition to the hugely successful M1200 face-milling range, WIDIA has added grades and geometries specifically for machining aluminum and non-ferrous materials and a new member to the popular series: the M1200HF face-milling system.

“With 12 cutting edges, the M1200 series offers many cutting edges per insert, which all perform at higher speeds and feeds while achieving lower power consumption due to superior design versus other double-sided platforms available today” says Josef Fellner, global product manager, indexable milling team, at Widia. “It’s a proven best-in-class system, and these new options really complement the series.”

M1200HF (High Feed) is a unique tooling solution that accepts standard M1200 HN .09 inserts already available today, but, by utilizing machining science to incorporate a chip-thinning effect, can achieve extraordinary metal removal. “This design allows for feed rates of up to 14X higher feed per tooth versus even our high-performing standard M1200,” adds Fellner.
