The MEGATURN NEXUS 900M is a CNC vertical turning center from Mazak (Florence, KY) that excels at heavy-duty cutting of large cast iron and steel workpieces found in the construction machinery, industrial machinery and jet engine industries. The machine now features an optional two-pallet changer to boost productivity even further and allow for continuous machining.

The MTN 900M allows a maximum workpiece size of 36.2 in x 31.5 in and utilizes the new MX Hybrid Roller Guide System to deliver levels of durability and reliability that result in long-term accuracy. The MX Hybrid Roller Guide System increases vibration dampening to extend tool life, handles higher load capacities, accelerates and decelerates quicker to shorten cycle times, consumes less oil for "greener" operations, and lasts longer with less required maintenance. The machine is equipped with a powerful 40 hp, 1,250 rpm integrated motor main turning spindle that generates 2,696 ft-lb. The MTN 900M carries a maximum load capacity of 6,614 lb, including the chuck.

Mazak designed the MTN 900M with a 12-position drum turret for rapid tool indexing. The turret is rigidly clamped by 16.7 tons of force on a 12.99-in high-index coupling, allowing for high performance machining and intermittent cutting. The MTN 900 delivers a rotary tool spindle speed of 4,000 rpm and 70.2 ft-lbs of torque. The MTN 900M also removes material at a rate of 58.6 in3/min, which is 1.4 times higher than comparable vertical turning lathes.

Another standard device is the beneficial Tool Eye, an automatic tool-presetting system. By bringing the tool tip into contact with the Tool Eye, offset of tool nose position, tool measurement, and data registration are done automatically, ensuring accuracy and reducing setup time. The Tool Eye also can be programmed to monitor tool wear on a periodic basis.

The MTN 900M is also equipped with Mazak's sixth-generation CNC system, MATRIX NEXUS, for advanced conversational programming and EIA input as well. It offers a 12 in LCD color display and the familiar QWERTY keyboard. A pointing device, acting like a mouse, and USB port for downloading programs are also at the operator's fingertips.
