The Timken Company (Canton, OH) has launched a new line of precision cylindrical roller bearings designed to maximize speed, precision and efficiency in high-demand machine tool applications.

Timken’s precision cylindrical roller bearings for screw drives feature a combination of axial cylindrical rollers and radial needle rollers. This unique configuration helps manage loads from multiple directions during high-speed operation. The precision cylindrical roller bearings for rotary tables feature an integrated design, with an L-shaped inner ring, shaft washer, outer ring, two thrust roller cage assemblies and a radial full complement row. The result is an easy-to-install unit that can manage stresses from multiple directions, including axial, radial and moment loads.

“These bearings can take on higher loads and withstand additional abuse, helping operators squeeze more out of their machines,” said Greg Vanbuskirk, industrial business development manager of Timken’s health and positioning control business. In applications such as rotary tables, grinding and milling operations, where rotational accuracy, consistency and rigidity are critical, both the original equipment manufacturer and distribution markets will find these bearings particularly suitable for machinery builds, rebuilds and design.

“Machine tools are subject to some of the toughest conditions,” Vanbuskirk said. “Our customers are looking for bearing solutions that are reliable, help optimize their operations and allow for maximum productivity. Our precision cylindrical roller bearings are ready for the challenge.” With a screw-drive bearing series of five designs (90 mm and 3.54 in ID maximum) and the rotary table bearing series (460 mm and 18.1 in ID maximum), the offering establishes one source for customers’ machine-tool bearing needs. “We now offer a broader line of friction management solutions, from bearings, seals and lubrication to reliability, engineering and maintenance support,” Vanbuskirk said. “The addition of precision cylindrical roller bearings for machine tool screw drives and rotary tables allows us to offer our customers a more complete system approach for greater ease of operation and value added.”
