In recognition of the growing need for specialized tooling, Precision Dormer has introduced a new special tools service for solid carbide drills. Marketed under the name ?D.Rapid,? a key feature of the service is the generation of a drawing and price within 24 hours of receipt of a Request for Quotation (RFQ), with a total manufacturing lead-time of ten working days.
The fastest method of dispatch is used to ensure quickest possible turnaround. No minimum order quantity is required. To ensure a highly accurate and efficient quotation service, a user-friendly data input form has been produced with clearly-defined parameters to facilitate the quotation procedure.
Here, customers can select from an extensive range of features to suit their specific requirements, including a wide choice of surface treatments, single or double margin, numerous shank types, solid design or internal coolant and up to three cutting diameters on one drill. The system also allows instant retrieval of data from previous quotes, negating the need to re-key data.
As Dormer continues to widen its service offering in response to the changing needs of the special tools market, future developments will include a similar service for end mills and taps.
Part of the Sandvik Group, Dormer has a proud history dating back to 1889. The company is a global operator with sales units in over 40 countries covering 100 markets. Its expertise lies in the manufacture of superior quality cutting tools ? primarily drills, reamers, taps and milling cutters – in solid carbide and high speed steel. The company has its own research and development facilities and also works closely with many of the world?s leading Universities and research institutes to ensure it remains at the forefront of tool design.
