Long-time oilfield and industrial component parts manufacturer Gerald Chandler II has formed a new company, Acculloy Manufacturing Solutions Inc. (Houston, TX) to provide turn-key solutions for the cost, quality and timeliness challenges often facing manufacturers at key points in the production cycle.

?There are multiple transition points in a typical heavy industry manufacturing sequence where work in process is transferred from one subcontractor to another,? said Chandler, founder and president of 18-year-old Houston-based AccuWeld Inc. ?We believe by integrating these process steps, we can reduce an OEM?s costs by up to 30 percent and improve turnaround time by 50 percent or more, while maintaining or improving component quality on measures such as hardnesses, tolerances, strength and dependability.?

?We believe by taking the slack out of the system, significant cost savings result,? he said. For example, Chandler noted, in a 30-day manufacturing schedule for a valve body, it is common for the major components to pass through ten or more different sets of hands on the way to final assembly.

The integration and coordination of Acculloy?s welding, machining, coating and inspection divisions are expected to enable significant time and cost savings at the transition points indicated with blue bars in the process diagram. The operating divisions of Acculloy handle thousands of projects annually for customers including the largest oilfield services, valve, pipeline and drilling tool companies, as well as major port contractors, engineering firms and operators.

?OEMs have historically achieved their quality and cost objectives by bidding segments of their work to multiple suppliers,? Chandler observed. ?On top of our proven ability to meet the most difficult performance challenges, high customer satisfaction levels and an industry-leading on-time delivery rate, we believe the opportunity to reduce costs by up to 30 percent with higher in-process efficiencies creates a compelling new alternative for OEMs.?
