For general-purpose fabrication, structural steel erection and heavy equipment manufacturing, Hobart Brothers (Troy, OH) offers its Excel Arc? 71 gas-shielded flux-cored wire. Due to its superior weld bead appearance, easy-to-remove slag and low spatter levels, the wire increases productivity by lessening rework and reducing the time and costs associated with post-weld cleanup.

Excel Arc 71 welding wire has low diffusible hydrogen levels to minimize cracking, and is also an excellent choice for applications requiring good bead contour with superior toughness, including those found in the shipbuilding and railcar industries.

The wire is available in diameters ranging from .035 in to 1/16 in and meets AWS E71T-1C; E71T-9C H8; E71T-1M; and E71T-9M H8 classifications. Using a shielding gas mixture of either 100 percent CO2 or 75 percent Argon/25 percent CO2, Excel Arc 71 wire provides excellent weldability and creates a flat weld bead.
