Thirty of Minnesota?s leading manufacturing companies visited Mate Precision Tooling (Anoka, MN) on the ?Tour Of Excellence,? which is designed to provide insight into the latest manufacturing technologies.
Sponsored by the Manufacturers Alliance, the company's team leaders shared many of their latest advanced manufacturing systems and processes with representatives from Midwest-based precision medical device, military and aerospace manufacturers.
Mate designs, manufactures and markets multiple lines of precision tooling products for CNC punch presses and provided Tour Of Excellence participants with a complete organizational presentation of its product portfolio, designed to meet the changing needs of the fabricating industry, and an overview of all phases of its manufacturing and customer service operations. In addition to the tool manufacturing processes, tour participants viewed demonstrations of the company's tools punching complex parts and assemblies.
"The Tour Of Excellence is a great way for us to give back to area industry and promote growth within our economy,? stated John Galich, marketing manager and one of the presenters. ?We were named 2009 Manufacturer of the Year because of our willingness to share our knowledge and best practices to help other manufacturers succeed, especially in a recovering manufacturing environment. We attribute our success to intensive peer-to-peer training, highly motivated employees and a long term commitment to Lean and Baldrige initiatives that were explained in this Tour Of Excellence.?
