REPLACE THREE TO FOUR PRODUCTION SAWS OR BAND SAWS
A single Nishijimax CNC Carbide Cutoff System can replace three to four production saws. Available exclusively from Pat Mooney Inc. (Addison, IL), Nishijimax systems cut more parts per hour and more parts per blade than a standard production saw.

Developed in 1990, Nishijimax Cutoff Technology was originally introduced to improve the uptime demands of Japanese automotive forgers. By integrating Cutoff Technology into a sawing machine, Nishijimax has achieved dramatic reductions in operations (cuts from 50 sec to 7 sec), high rpm with minimal kerf and swarf and greater chip load than any other production saw.

Nishijimax Systems are equipped with a range of features that promote productivity. Designed for fully automatic cycles, all Nishijimax saws feature auto loaders and bar stockers. After a bar length has reached the remnant end, the loading table introduces a new bar on the in-feed conveyor. The gripper vise locates the bar and feeds it into trim cut position. During this cycle, the remnant end is discharged into a scrap bin, and the trim cut is made and discarded into a scrap bin.

The machine then feeds to proper cut length and continues production. The machine will continue to cycle as long as bars remain on the table or until a pre-determined number of cuts are made. With an exclusive NC Saw Spindle Feed Axis, a precise feed rate is set automatically and input chip load is maintained. The saw blade feed rate is controlled via an AC Servo Motor with Encoder, a Mitsubishi Programmable Servo Drive and a precision ball screw. Compared to hydraulic systems, there is no fluctuation for temperature or condition of the oil. What's more, job set up takes less than five minutes with the CNC Controller.

Other features include an original powdermetal saw blade brake for zero vibration when the blade enters the cut, a gearbox oil chiller to maintain constant gearbox temperature throughout 24/7 operation, thereby extending the life of the gearbox and the saw blades and an easily accessible oil pressure adjustment valve. Magnetic and drag style automatic chip conveyors are offered as options.

The saw head travels on hardened and ground linear rails and the saw blade housing is mounted to the massive saw head. The saw blade is guided into the workpiece by ceramic guides that provide 6-point contact for zero deflection and blade wobble. Nishijimax blade capacities range from 2.75 in to 9.00 in. Three types of Kanefusa "throw away" blades are available from Pat Mooney for use with this system, including TA-4 high performance and versatile blades, ST-4 higher grade blades for more demanding applications, and TI-4 featuring coated blade technology.

Plate Saws
The new NHC-SQA Plate Saws are fast and accurate enough to replace three to four band saw machines. The surface finish and surface quality of the cut plate is dramatically improved compared to band sawing. These Plate Saws are available in two models. The NHC-850SQA is designed for traverse sawing of plate. The NHC-8310 is designed for sawing longitudinally. Both machines are fully automatic; plate is positioned and cut to an exact size simply by programming the NHC-SQA.

The NHC-850SQA can saw plate up to 3 in thick and 24 in wide. The NHC-8310SQA can handle plate that is 4 in thick and 20 ft long. Use of a unique saw spindle drive system for the NHC-SQ Series results in 15 rpm to 115 rpm blade speeds with unusually precise torque control. A 21 hp induction motor drives the saw blade spindle via a reduction gearbox. The rpm of the gearbox in controlled by a FREQROL Inverter Drive.

The saw blade feed rate is controlled via an AC Servo Motor with Encoder, a Mitsubishi Programmable Servo Drive and a precision ball screw. Compared to hydraulic systems, there is no fluctuation for temperature or condition of the oil. Job set up takes less than five minutes with the CNC Controller. Further increasing precision, the NHC-SQ Series is equipped with a horizontal and an overhead clamping hydraulic clamping system. This ensures that material is flat and square during cutting. www.patmooneysaws.com

MQL NOZZLE FOR BAND SAWING DOES THE WORK OF THREE
Accu-Lube (Glenview, IL) introduces a new specialty band-sawing nozzle for Minimum Quantity Lubrication (MQL), the RL-Nozzle, which is more compact than previous models and features better spray performance for superior lubrication application.

The RL-Nozzle attaches to a two-pump MQL applicator system and features two internal atomizing chambers where lubricant is broken up before it is sprayed onto the tool. The smaller lubrication particles give a more even, constant spray for constant lubrication and protection. The RL-Nozzle sprays lubricant from three different places so this single nozzle does the work of three nozzles and since the lubricant and air are mixed right at the nozzle, not back in the applicator, there is no lag time or dry cutting. ITW ROCOL North America (Glenview, IL ) designs and manufactures the Accu-Lube product line. www.itwfpg.com

PUSH FEED SYSTEM REDUCES DEFECTS
TigerStop (Vancouver, WA) was recently granted a European Patent on their System and Method of Marking Materials for Automated Processing for their TigerScan and TigerSaw with Rapid Laser Scan Systems. The new TigerScan is a push-feed defect-optimizing system. This package has many of the same features as the TigerSaw, but is more compact in size. TigerScan optimizes material, counts pieces, and gives the right length, in the right quantity, with minimum material and waste. It is faster and more reliable than crayon scanning methods and doesn't leave marks on material. TigerScan will automatically print out clear easy-to-read labels for each part while processing material. TigerScan's TigerOptimizer allows the operator to put up any stock length and enter it into the system. The TigerOptimizer finds the optimal use of the material based on the parts list that was input into the controller either manually or by downloading from a computer.

TigerSaw automatically positions material (up to ±0.008 in repeatable positioning accuracy) and accurately cuts parts. After the part is cut, it can automatically be labeled with TigerSaw's ink-jet printing, then each part can drop from the outfeed table onto the return conveyor for easy sorting of parts. TigerSaw eliminates the need to set manual stops, so the operator stays in front of the saw, and TigerTurbo can push materials weighing up to 600 lb. Every cut is accurate, with no variation in quality from operator to operator. TigerSaw's high-speed saw stroke allows operators to process up to 12,000 lineal feet per shift. Precision ground tables and heavy-duty construction maintain crucial accuracy and speed with robust reliability. www.tigerstop.com
