Two leading UK road tanker manufacturers have discovered that by simply using Huntingdon Fusion Techniques Limited's (HFT; Carms, UK) weld backing tape for the linear and circumferential welds on their stainless steel tankers, they have realized significant savings:

HFT has recently extended its range of weld backing tapes. There are now three different grades of tape being manufactured to accommodate welding currents up to 240 amps. As well as being suitable for road tankers, the tape is ideal for all other cylindrical items and sheet metal work. Apart from the advantages mentioned above, it is significant that with the use of Argweld® Weld Backing tape, the backside of the weld is flat, smooth and oxide free.
