Lucifer Furnaces, Inc. (Warrington PA) supplied a large 5000 Series heavy-duty box furnace to Flowserve Corporation (Irving, TX), the world?s largest manufacturer of pumping equipment, for its aftermarket service facility in Greer, SC. The furnace will be used in the repair of flow-control equipment.
In the past year, Flowserve has purchased six Lucifer Furnace single-chamber units for several locations plants throughout the country, bringing their heat treating in-house as part of their Continuous Improvement Project.
In-house heat treatment can potentially save the customer both time and money. The heavy-duty box furnace, with a 4 ft x 4 ft x 4 ft work chamber, is lined with firebrick, mineral wool and ceramic fiber insulation for maximum heat retention. Rated for 2300 deg F, the heating elements are situated on the sides, back, door and below the hearth to provide uniform heat. An air-operated vertical lift door is activated via a foot treadle with a center stop. The furnace is being supplied with an over-temperature safety system, programmable controller and pen recorder.
