Columbus McKinnon Corporation (Amherst, NY), a leading designer, manufacturer and marketer of material handling products, is contributing more than $40,000 worth of products to aid the recovery efforts in Haiti. Primary contributions include chain, load binders, and assemblies for moving heavy equipment, and manual hoists to assist in the removal of debris. Additionally, items that will assist farmers and other agricultural workers in both the short and long term will be included.

Chief financial officer Karen Howard commented about the efforts to assist those affected by the worst national disaster to hit the Caribbean in more than 200 years. ?Being a material handling company, we manufacture many products that can be used directly in the clean-up efforts. We are contributing a wide array of items that workers can use to lift, pull, or transport materials during the relief efforts. We are also including equipment such as powered hoists that will be needed as the long rebuilding process takes hold.?

The support of the company is part of an ongoing effort by members of the Industrial Supply Association (ISA; Philadelphia, PA) to provide supplies that will be integral in the rebuilding of the nation. The initial shipment is scheduled to arrive in Haiti by late February.

Columbus McKinnon is a global leader in manufacturing material handling products and systems that efficiently and ergonomically move, lift, position or secure materials, including hoists, cranes, actuators, chain and forged attachments for commercial and industrial applications.
