Seco Tools Inc. (Troy, MI) introduces its new turning grades TS2000 and TS2500, optimized for turning superalloys and titanium alloys ? materials commonly used in the aerospace, power generation and biomedical engineering industries. The new grades enable higher cutting speeds to enable increased productivity and lower manufacturing costs without sacrificing reliability.

The TS grades have better edge integrity and improved adhesion between substrate and coating due to a new edge preparation process. This process improves surface quality on machined parts, reduces notching and gives inserts more consistent tool life. TS2000 also features a unique new thicker PVD coating, which reduces flank wear and crater wear.

Field tests show that TS2000 and TS2500 can more than double both tool life and productivity. TS2500 is designed to handle interrupted cuts, tough cast skins and higher stress making it an ideal grade for roughing and semi-roughing. TS2000, a harder and more wear-resistant grade, is aimed at the finishing of heat resistant alloys. However, it also has the strength to handle semi-roughing situations.

Both grades come in a range of inserts styles that cover all turning applications from roughing to finishing, where long and predictable tool life and increased cutting speed is of major importance.

Seco Tools Inc. is part of Seco Tools AB (Fagersta, Sweden), a leader in metalworking technologies that is committed to solving its customers? ever-increasing demands for greater productivity, quality and cost-effectiveness by offering a full range of tools for milling, turning, holemaking, and threading applications as well as service and software solutions. Its cutting tools and related technologies are sold through a network of more than 250 authorized distributors in the U.S., Canada and Mexico.
