Mahr Federal’s (Providence, RI) Series 300P Indicating Snap Gages are an excellent choice for highly accurate and reliable measurement results on cylindrical parts with narrow tolerance ranges. The gages are available in a variety of sizes with measuring capacity increasing in 1 in (25 mm) increments up to 9 in (229 mm). Series 300P Snap Gages can be configured with a number of different indicators and all are fully adjustable with positive position locking at any point within the gaging range.
?Snap gages are one of the easiest, fastest, most accurate and economical ways of making OD measurements a shop can employ,? says George Schuetz, director of Precision Gages for Mahr Federal. ?They are very versatile. They can be hand held to measure parts in place, or mounted on bench stands. They can be set up with different indicators for any number of readout configurations. Different anvil styles adapt to a host of measurement conditions. And parts literally ‘snap’ into place, which assures good part alignment, and along with positive position locking, virtually eliminates operator influence on the measurement.?
With a standard dial indicator installed, the measuring range of Mahr Federal Series 300P adjustable snap gages is .020 in, with a resolution of .0001 in. But 300P Snap Gages can also accommodate digital indicators, air probes, or electronic probes using the same standard 3/8 in diameter mounting. With an electronic probe and an amplifier, resolution of 10 µ in can be achieved, for tolerance measurements tighter than .0005 in.
Mahr Federal Series 300P Snap Gages are available with a wide range of flat, grooved and blade anvil configurations. Special custom anvils are also available. Large 15.5 mm/.61 in square tungsten carbide anvils provide flat, parallel, long lasting working surfaces. Anvils can be side-relieved or straddle-milled to provide access in difficult part profiles. Blade widths as narrow as .010 in (0.25 mm) and depths up to .25 in (6.35 mm) ensure access in deep, narrow diameters or grooves, even against perpendicular surfaces. All Series 300P Snap Gage anvils feature radiused edges to eliminate part marring.
