Hammersmith Mfg. & Sales Inc. (Horton, KS) has announced the addition of a new Flow International TITAN-HCW 4012 Ultra-High Pressure (UHP) waterjet cutting machine into its Holton, KS facility. The addition of the TITAN-HCW 4012 expands Hammersmith's capabilities in the Holton facility. Building modifications, including the addition of overhead cranes, have begun.
"This is a huge project and undertaking at this time given the nation?s overall poor economic outlook ,? said Ed Hammersmith, President of Hammersmith. ?We are very excited about the addition of the TITAN waterjet and its dynamic technology,? added Ed Hammersmith. ?It is the only device of its size and kind in the entire Midwest, and we believe it will trigger significant growth, opportunities and employment as we expand our presence in the marketplace. This new machine will provide additional precision capabilities to our ever growing base of trademark quality services, and our clients continue to
recognize the value of our services and our ability to meet their complex needs and requirements.?
The TITAN-HCW 4012 can cut carbon steel, stainless steel, aluminum, stone, plastics, composites, glass, ceramics, rubber and a myriad of other materials? all up to 8 in thick with no heat-affected zone while attaining manufacturing precision and superior edge quality. The one-of-a-kind machine extends Hammersmith Mfg. & Sales Inc.?s existing core of fabrication and machining offerings.
In addition, the company has added a new Mori Seiki NL-2500SY-1250 CNC lathe machine into its Horton, KS facility. ?This is a great addition for us.? said Ed Hammersmith. ?The NL-2500 features live-tooling, a sub-spindle, a Y-axis and an optional barstock feeder. Those features, along with a turning diameter of 14 in and a cutting length of over 51 in, will enable us to achieve significant new capabilities, process improvements and cost reductions.?
"The NL-2500 represents the best in turning center technology,? added Ed Hammersmith. ?It will replace several of our older machines, and it will greatly enhance our machining services, upgrade our quality and improve our efficiency, especially on machining-intensive parts.?
The Mori Seiki NL-2500SY-1250 CNC lathe focuses on increasing rigidity and minimizing thermal displacement as a means of improving precision and productivity. The NL-2500SY-1250 features MAPPS III,
Mori Seiki?s third-generation control system.
