NEW TURNING/MILLING CENTERS PERMIT UNCOMPROMISING COMPLETE MACHINING OF PARTS
DMG has set recognized new standards with its universal lathes of the new CTX series. The high degree of innovation manifests itself especially with the turning/milling machines of the CTX beta TC and CTX gamma TC series with turning lengths from 49.2 to 78.7 in, turning diameters up to 24.8 in and a bar capacity up to 3.0 in diameter.

TC here is short for the integrated disc magazine with a fast tool changer and space for 24 tools on the CTX beta TC, or 36 tools on the CTX gamma TC respectively, the CTX gamma TC offering the additional option of a chain magazine for up to 120 tools.
Another crucial component of this impressive development is the sturdy mobile column horizontally fitted on the Z axis and, as a result, providing optimum force induction. Wide linear guides in the linear axes ensure perfect rigidity and stability during the process, while linear scales in all slide axes together with the thermo-symmetric design and the active cooling of the main and (optional) counter-spindle, motor consoles and turning/milling spindle keep precision at the highest level.
The CNC controlled B axis swiveling in the range of ±100 deg is the key to unrestricted complete machining up to 5 axis simultaneous milling. This B axis is positioned by a torque motor, whereby its high-performance turning/milling spindle ensures high-quality cutting on the main and counter-spindle at rotational speeds of 12,000 rpm or optional 18,000 rpm respectively.
The machines of the CTX beta TC and CTX gamma TC range give the user the choice between the Siemens 840D Solutionline with ShopTurn and the Heidenhain PLUS iT with DinPlus (TurnPlus as an option). On each of these machines, the operator will appreciate the DMG ERGOline® Control with its huge 19 in screen. Here the larger screen not only enhances reading comfort, but also allows the integration of additional DMG SOFTkeys® and further status information, leading to more relaxed and reliable and finally more efficient work. The more so, because the new DMG ERGOline® Control is equipped with a swivel mechanism to ergonomically and optimally adjust both screen and operating panel to the individual requirements of the operator. This also applies to the optional adaptable seat or the optional mousepad including drawing holder.
Highlights of CTX beta 1250 TC / CTX gamma 1250 TC / CTX gamma 2000 TC:
- ? Turning/milling spindle with NC controlled B axis and torque motor
- ? Sturdy moving column horizontally fitted on the Z axis, for optimum force induction
- ? No vibration due to the complete moving column traversing in Y
- ? Y stroke up to 400 mm
- ? Turning length up to 78.7 in, turning diameter up to 24.8 in (27.6 in with 120 position chain magazine*)
- ? Disk magazine: CTX beta TC with 24 or CTX gamma TC with 36 tools, optional 120 position chain magazine (CTX gamma TC)
- ? 567.9 ft lb maximum torque at the main and counter-spindle
- ? Maximum stability and precision through the thermo-symmetric design and active cooling of the main and counter-spindle, motor consoles and turning/milling spindle
