Sandvik Coromant (Fair Lawn, NJ) recently sponsored the Bill Miller Engineering/Okuma Top Fuel dragster at the 54th Mac Tools US Nationals at O'Reilly Raceway Park in Indianapolis. Regarded as the Daytona 500 of Top Fuel racing, the US Nationals fielded 16 cars with BME's Troy Buff racing to a 9th place finish.
As part of its sponsorship, Sandvik Coromant invited customers and distributors to attend the event as distinguished guests of Bill Miller Engineering. Attendees were provided with reserved seats to the races and also had the opportunity to stand in the pits and watch the BME crew put the car together before each run.
"Sandvik Coromant's sponsorship goes well beyond simply having our name on the car," said Blaine Hagins, Regional Sales Manager, Sandvik Coromant. "As BME's exclusive supplier of cutting tools, we are able to work closely with the team and Okuma to improve machining techniques and processes. This ensures improvement in the production of high-performance racing parts and also helps a variety of cars across racing achieve success on their respective circuits."
Since 1975, BME has supplied NHRA and NASCAR teams with high performance engine components, including aluminum pistons and connecting rods, wrist pins and superchargers. By racing its top fuel dragster in NHRA events, the company is able to refine its product designs and promote a team philosophy within its business.
