DMG has redefined its range of CNC-controlled turning and milling centres in the lower price segment without compromising high-tech standards. The universal CTX 310 ECO and CTX 510 ECO lathes and the DMC 635 V ECO and DMC 1035 V ECO vertical centers are smoothing the way into the new DMG ECO world, and with market prices of less than ?50,000 they attract a completely new customer segment.

The CTX 310 ECO universal lathe offers the best perspectives for sophisticated turning operations for bar machining in a diameter range of up to 200 mm and chucking components of 51 mm, respectively, thanks to its highly dynamic spindle drive whose continuously adjustable rotational speeds of up to 5,000 rpm provide a power of 11 kW and its torque of 112 Nm. At the same time the direct measuring systems on the spindles in combination with the high-end CNCs from either Fanuc or Siemens ensure maximum positioning accuracy.

A VDI 30 turret has 12 tool stations, of which 6 can be equipped optionally for power-driven tools and a C-axis. The automatic travelling tailstock for shaft machining and linear roller guideways in all axes ensure process stability and workpiece precision. Whereby all axes are equipped with digital drives that allow feed rates of 24 m/min in the X-axis or 30 m/min in the Z-travel.

Both the CTX 310 ECO and the CTX 510 ECO feature high-tech-3D-CNCs von Siemens and Fanuc with large colour screens of up to 15 in, a full keyboard and electronic hand wheel so that not only impressive hardware performance is ensured but in addition a number of software features for the comfort of the operator on the shop floor. This attribute is most especially reflected to the integrated ShopTurn-Software for the Siemens control or the Manual Guide i for the Fanuc-CNC. Both systems guarantee the user the quickest way from the drawing board to the finished workpiece. Other distinctive features of the controls are the powerful tool management systems plus the setup operation and comprehensive diagnostics function both with graphical support.

Apart from the standard offers, without or rather with powered tools and C-axis, there are specific auxiliary options for individual fine tuning of the two universal lathes CTX 310 ECO and CTX 510 ECO. These start with the chip disposal package that features a chip conveyor and a set of soft chucks, continues with the pre-adjustment package that includes a tool measurement unit and chip conveyor, and goes right down to the bar machining package with a chip conveyor, an attachment for bar feed systems or bar loading magazine, a workpiece pickup unit, plus the 4-color indicator lamp that is obligatory for all option packages.
Highlights of the CTX 310/510 ECO:

  • •Digital drives and linear roller guideways in all axes for maximum dynamics and top precision
  • •Sauter VDI 30 turret with 12 tool stations and up to six driven tools (optional)
  • •3D controls with large 15 in TFT-Screen (Siemens 810D) or 10.4 in (Fanuc 0i-T/MC) with shop floor programming
  • •Simple graphical programming with 3D-simulation
  • •Automatic travelling tailstock for increased machining flexibility
  • •Fast and easy machine setup
  • •Direct measuring system on the spindle and top positioning accuracy
  • •High-tech in the standard version from less than ?45,000

The DMC 635 V ECO with its work area of 635 mm x 510 mm x 460 mm and the larger DMC 1035 V ECO (1,035 mm x 560 mm x 510 mm) both offer a number of profit-generating high-tech features even in their standard versions. Productive highlights include the powerful 8,000 rpm milling spindle with an 82-Nm torque, the 20-pocket tool magazine with double gripper for shorter changeover times of only 1.6 sec and the dynamic axis drives for feeds of up 25 m/min.

International top class control technology in the DMG ControlPanel with large 15 in TFT screen (Siemens 810D) and included hand wheel are all part of the offer. Not only does the Siemens 810D 3D-CNC control offer 50 percent faster programming thanks to the ShopMill software and intuitive 3D operator guidance included even in its standard version, it also guarantees optimum production reliability due to the 3D simulation that is part of the scope of delivery.

The two new vertical centers from the DMC V ECO series focus on a sturdy C-frame design in grey iron with the X-axis in the table, a construction that accommodates maximum demands on rigidity and ultimately creates the basis for a high degree of precision in efficient milling processes. Another guarantee for stability and precision are the roller guideways in all axes as well as the time-tested 3-point machine support that also shortens and makes initial startup simpler. Moreover, optimum access to the work area offers the perfect conditions for short setup times.

A multitude of intelligent expansion options and special equipment round off the product range of the DMC 635 V ECO or rather the DMC 1035 V ECO. These include such features as direct travel measurement systems in all axes, an NC dividing head as a fourth axis, measuring sensor systems and, with an eye on the international market, alternative spindle systems in the sizes CAT 40 or BT 40 as well as an active control cabinet cooling system for reliable use in tropical regions. DMG also offers two selective option packages. The chip disposal packet, for example, put together especially for component manufacturers with ambitions for serial production which includes a chip conveyor, cleaning spraygun and a 4-color indicator lamp. For those with even higher demands on precision, the precision package includes a Z-axis with thermal compensation, direct travel measuring systems in all axes and a Blum laser for integrated tool measuring.

Highlights ? DMC 635/1035 V ECO:

  • •Siemens 810 D with ShopMill in the standard version
  • •Tool magazine for 20 tools with a fast double gripper
  • •Simple graphical programming with 3D-Simulation
  • •Powerful 8,000 rpm milling spindle, 82 Nm [40 percent DC] and 13 kW
  • •Reduced idle times: 25 m/min rapid traverse, 1.6 Sec. tool changeover times
