Morgan Crucible Acquires Two Technical Ceramics Businesses

Morgan Crucible Company PLC (Stourport, UK) acquires two technical ceramics businesses, Certech and Carpenter Advanced Ceramics (both in Wyomissing, PA), from Carpenter Technology Corporation for $147 million in cash. Certech manufactures complex, injection-molded, consumable ceramic components used during the investment casting of turbine blades and vanes for aerospace engines, industrial gas turbines and some high-end industrial castings. Certech has seven plants in the US, UK and Mexico with approximately 750 employees.

Carpenter Advanced Ceramics manufactures engineered high-purity alumina and zirconia structural ceramic components for various applications and industries. It operates two plants, one in the US and one in Australia, with approximately 150 employees.
