Seco Tools Inc. has announced the availability of its AxiaBore™ type fine boring heads with 30 percent higher rigidity than previous generations thanks to the Cylinder & flange tool fixing design. This allows for higher machining data and increased productivity. Among other innovations, the indirect barrel locking (patented IBL system) simplifies the life of machine operators as the set diameter is not influenced by the locking screw. The AxiaBore features include micrometric adjustment to 0.0001 in on the diameter for high precision and guaranteed insert orientation for correct tool geometry. The AxiaBore range consists of five axial fine boring heads using axial tools:

  • NanoBore for extremely small diameters, 0.012 – .315 in
  • AxiaBore for 0.0787 – 0.7874 in boring
  • AxiaBore Plus, for 0.2362 – 4.252 in boring, OD-overturning and grooving
  • AxiaLibraBore™ balanceable head for high speed machining, sizes 0.0787 – 0.7874 in
  • AxiaLibraBore Plus balanceable head for high speed machining, sizes 0.2362 – 1.2992 in

The boring heads are balanced for high hole quality and reduced machine spindle stress. Non-balanceable heads (NanoBore, AxiaBore, and AxiaBore Plus) are pre-balanced at the mean setting diameter of the boring head. The AxiaLibraBore balanceable heads can be fine balanced throughout their entire diameter range with a single balancing ring that eliminates the need for a chart. The AxiaBore system comes with a complete modular selection of boring bars and shanks, plus a multi-purpose adaptor for boring, OD-overturning and face grooving. www.secotools.com
